Rin Noguchi Solo Exhibition 新欲 NEW DESIRE

Japanese commercial calligrapher Rin Noguchi will present her New York solo exhibition “新欲 — NEW DESIRE —” from October 3 through October 11, 2026, at Brooklyn Beauty Fashion Labo. Its theme is “Drawing New Desires.”

Giving breath to characters

Rather than treating characters only as language, Noguchi develops them as visual forms that communicate mood, identity, movement, and atmosphere. Bold brushwork meets design-based composition, giving each character a presence of its own.

Her practice, Commercial Calligraphy, transforms the visual image of characters to suit the purpose and worldview of a product, brand, advertisement, or space. It connects expressive hand-drawn work with contemporary branding and visual communication.

Beyond the gallery wall

Alongside the artworks, the exhibition introduces ways Noguchi’s calligraphy can be used in logos, signage, branding, packaging, advertising, and other visual design applications. These examples show how expressive characters can shape the identity and atmosphere of a commercial project.

Rin Noguchi is a Japanese commercial calligrapher who reinterprets calligraphy for contemporary visual culture. She combines expressive brushwork with design thinking to create work for artistic presentation and commercial applications, including logos, signage, branding, packaging, and advertising. Her practice seeks to establish Commercial Calligraphy as a creative field connecting hand-drawn expression with contemporary design.
