Several websites had been running on shared hosting, where deployment workflows and routing options were constrained. We moved the sites to cloud-hosted deployments suited to their architecture, using Firebase Hosting or Vercel as appropriate. The goal was not a platform switch for its own sake: it was better control over publishing, URLs, and the technical foundations of search visibility.

We migrated the app to Next.js while preserving the useful parts of the existing experience. The client had built a fast, modern React web app. The user interface was strong, but search engines were not receiving enough meaningful HTML on the initial response: page copy, headings, metadata, and structured data were either missing or injected too late. The core finding was clear: React can build apps quickly, but React alone does not automatically render SEO-ready pages. Strong organic visibility requires additional development such as SSR, SSG, prerendering, metadata control, and structured data.

The client launched quickly with a React SPA and kept adding features. Over time, public pages and app screens living in the same client-rendered architecture became a constraint for SEO, speed, social sharing, content operations, and language support. We planned a staged migration to Next.js that preserved the best parts of the existing React app while adding server rendering where the business needed visibility.

The client's cloud storage app was a tightly coupled monolith built in Laravel with Blade templates — frontend and backend fused together. The server-rendered UI worked, but it lacked a modern, app-like feel, and critically, its architecture couldn't support the native iOS app they wanted to add. Business logic was baked into the views, so nothing could be reused from another platform.

The client was drowning in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents and back-to-back meetings.
